Tottenham Hotspur took on Juventus in the Champions League this week, and picked up an impressive 2-2 draw in Turin.

It was a good result for Spurs, despite what was a horrible start to the game.

Two goals from Gonzalo Higuain saw Juventus take an early 2-0 lead. Although, it could have been three. Juventus had a chance to make the game 3-1, after Harry Kane had got one back for Spurs.

The Argentine striker had the chance to score another penalty in the game, to move into a comfortable 3-1 lead. However, he struck the ball against the bar.

It came after a mistake from Colombian defender Davinson Sanchez. The club record signing was casual in his pursuit of Douglas Costa, before sending the Brazilian tumbling in the box to give away the penalty.

He struggled throughout the start of the game and some Tottenham fans were critical of the youngster’s performance.

Speaking to the radio in Colombia this week, he admitted the struggle against the Serie A side, but was pleased with the reaction from his team-mates as they came back.

He told Deportes RCN:

“The first few minutes nobody expected the game to happen that way, fortunately we managed to turn it around.

“We scored a goal in the first part that was vital and then missed a penalty that left us alive.

“What we all felt at that moment was giving us a chance.

“It was a match that for the spectator fills a lot, because goals are scored, for us the first part was doubts, it was two plays that took us out at the time of the game, but then we followed the plan that was possession, was creating spaces and when we converted the first goal even more.”

Despite this poor performance Tottenham fans will still hold Sanchez in high regard. The young defender has been in incredible form for the club since his arrival from Ajax and is looking to be a future superstar at Tottenham Hotspur.

This would have been a harsh lesson for Sanchez, but one he needs if he is to go on and become a star at Tottenham in the future.
