The Glasgow Rangers midfielder has been linked with a move to the Championship.
Davie Provan has explained to The Scottish Sun that Rangers would be making a huge mistake if they decided to let Josh Windass leave during the January transfer window.
A recent report in The Scottish Sun suggested that the 22-year-old was attracting attention from Championship pair Newcastle United and Derby County after making a bright start to life at Ibrox.
And worryingly for fans of the former Accrington Stanley man, The Scottish Sun hinted that Mark Warburton may need to sell some of his players if he wants funds to strengthen his squad.

But with Rangers involved in a tight battle with Aberdeen and Hearts for second place, Provan has suggested that they would be damaging their hopes of winning the race enormously if they let Windass go.
“Fair play to Mark Warburton. Having been spanked at Hearts he got his players up to win a difficult game against Aberdeen,” he told The Scottish Sun.
“After Gers’ tippy-tappy football at Tynecastle I’m told Warbs ordered his team to be more direct against the Dons and it paid off.

“But if Rangers are to finish second they’ll need to hold on to their best players in the January window. Selling Josh Windass would be the equivalent of raising the white flag.”
While the attacking midfielder has not been as prolific as some may have expected him to be since his summer switch, he has arguably been one of the team’s brightest players when he has played which suggests that he definitely has the potential to be a key man for the Gers for years to come.
And while Windass may attract a significant fee, Warburton will know all too well after watching some of his summer signings struggle that it will not necessarily be easy to find an adequate replacement, even with plenty of funds to invest.
