The former Celtic player says the current squad is now ‘weaker’ than it was last season.

Davie Provan has told The Scottish Sun that he believes Celtic’s squad is worse off now than it was at the end of last season.
The Hoops picked up £25 million for Kieran Tierney who joined Arsenal on deadline day.
Tierney is the fourth big player to have left Celtic during the summer after Lennon also lost Dedryck Boyata and Mikael Lustig on Bosmans, while Filip Benkovic returned to parent club Leicester City.
Boli Bolingoli and Hatem Abd Elhamed have been signed as direct replacements for the 22-year-old and Lustig, while £7 million was spent on bringing Christopher Jullien to Glasgow as a replacement for Boyata and Benkovic.
But Provan doesn’t believe that any of those three arrivals are upgrades on the players they’re replacing.
He told The Scottish Sun: “Celtic are currently weaker than they were last season. You can’t tell me Boli Bolingoli, Hatem Abd Elhamed and Christopher Jullien are an upgrade on Tierney, Mikael Lustig and Filip Benkovic.
“If the board are serious about Europe and crushing a league challenge from Rangers, the transfer market is the only place to show it.”

Really, it’s far too early to make assessments on whether Lennon’s signings are upgrades, especially when you given that the window remains open.
Okay Bolingoli probably isn’t going to be an upgrade, but that’s a reflection on Tierney being one of Europe’s best young left-backs more than anything.
As for Jullien, well Celtic made him their second most expensive signing of all time for a reason and there’s every chance that he will be better than Benkovic or Boyata.
Lennon’s side have scored 12 times in their first two Scottish Premiership games.
