Tottenham's Harry Kane celebrates scoring their fifth goal to complete his hat trick

Former Celtic man Davie Provan has said that Tottenham Hotspur and England hitman Harry Kane is a “frightening” talent, as quoted by The National.

The 23-year-old scooped the Premier League’s Golden Boot award for the second successive season after netting 29 top-flight goals for Spurs last season.

It is ominous for Scotland as Gordon Strachan’s side prepare to host England in a World Cup qualifier at Hampden Park on Saturday.

Kane netted eight goals in Tottenham’s last three Premier League games of the season, and the Scots would do well to keep him at bay in Glasgow this weekend.

He has been a household name for a number of years now, having reached the 20-goal mark for the third season in a row with the Lilywhites, and Provan says it is scary how good Kane can be in the coming years.

He told The National at a William Hill press event ahead of the clash: “To get 29 goals in that league is an achievement in itself.

“But that’s the third season in a row he’s scored more than 20, and if you had a wish-list of qualities in a striker he ticks every box.

“He can come towards the ball, he can come in behind. He has a fabulous first touch, scores all manner of goals, left-foot, right-foot, headers, and at 23 his potential is frightening. He is going to be one of the greats.”

Provan is right. The Tottenham man is well on his way to becoming one of the great goalscorers in football and it is hard to imagine him getting any better, but at his age improvement is inevitable.
