The Bhoys are looking to take bag the bragging rights in Glasgow.
Davie Provan – Celtic celebrate with the trophy
Celtic take on Old Firm rivals Rangers this weekend in their first meeting in the Scottish top-flight since the Gers went out of business and were relegated to the bottom tier of Scottish football.
The Bhoys will be looking to avenge a Scottish Cup semi-final defeat from last season and go into the game as favourites after the comparative starts to the season from both teams.
Celtic’s certainly look on paper to have the better team and in Brendan Rodgers they have a new lease of life under new management – compared to the end of Ronny Deila’s reign when the teams met last term.
Colin Jackson – Rangers moves in to tackle Davie Provan – Celtic
One former Celtic player is confident that his old side can win, with pace the key.
Davie Provan, who played at Celtic for nine years, believes that the pace of Celtic’s front-line will prove to be too much for Rangers.
The former Scotland winger told Sky Sports News HQ today (07/09/16):
“Celtic only play one way. They like to get at the opposition.
“They have terrific pace in the forward areas through James Forrest, Leigh Griffiths, Scott Sinclair and Celtic will certainly feel that the game is there for them to win it.
“I think if Rangers open up against Celtic at the weekend there will be only one winner and that will be Brendan Rodgers’ side.”

Rangers’ certainly do lack pace when compared to the Celtic side and this is likely to be a key area if Celtic are to get the better of this Old Firm clash.
If they can they will be regaining some bragging rights and setting the tone for the rest of the Scottish Premiership season.
If not, then Celtic will feel very much as if they are in a title race.
