Moussa Dembele has been sensational since joining Celtic, and his agent gave Hoops supporters reason for optimism this week.

Davie Hay has told the Evening Times that Moussa Dembele has the qualities to move himself alongside the likes of Henrik Larsson and Kenny Dalglish and become a Celtic legend, but predicted that his agent’s recent comments about his future may turn out to be wrong.

Dembele has been brilliant since making the move to Parkhead, and has subsequently been linked with a handful of Europe’s biggest clubs (via Daily Mail). His recent form has been particularly impressive, with the Frenchman scoring a staggering nine goals in his last four games for the Bhoys.

And while his departure seems inevitable at some stage in the future, the 20-year-old’s agent has handed Hoops supporters a big reason for optimism by insisting that the striker is currently solely focused on staying for the duration of his four-year contract (via Daily Record).

And while Hay believes that it may be foolish to expect Dembele to stick around for the duration of his contract, he suggested that he has the ability to leave a major impression by the time he does depart.

Celtic's Moussa Dembele reacts

“Moussa Dembele’s agent has come out and said all the right things this week about him wanting to stay at the club for the duration of his contract and while I suspect that might not happen, what it does show is an indication of just how settled it is,” he told the Evening Times.

“It also welcoming to hear that his agent is not agitating for a quick move and a quick buck. He is happy to play the long game and allow the boy to develop at Celtic and there is no doubt in my mind that Dembele can leave Celtic a legend.

“The longer he stays the more likely that he will find himself elevated into the kind of company of Henrik Larsson and Kenny Dalglish – I honestly believe he has that level of ability.”

Sutton and Larsson celebrate for Celtic

While Dembele’s potential was obvious while he was at Fulham, few could have anticipated just how well his time at Parkhead would turn out, especially given how important Leigh Griffiths had been to the team in recent years.

He has already bettered the number of goals that Larsson managed during his first year with the club, and while he may not stick around long enough to close in on the 242 goals the Swede scored before leaving, Dembele will surely depart with a strike-rate that rivals the Hoops hero if he continues building on his brilliant start with the club.
