Celtic have made a brilliant start to the season but Hay thinks there is still improvements to be made.
Davie Hay has suggested that he would like to see Celtic strengthen their midfield during the January and summer transfer windows, the Evening Times reports.
Brendan Rodgers’ men have been sensational in the Scottish Premiership this season – the Hoops are nine points clear of their nearest challengers and still have a game in hand – and have reached the League Cup final.

But perhaps due to Celtic’s struggles in the Champions League, Hay believes that further improvement to the squad is required over the coming months, especially in the middle of the park.
“What I would like to see over the next couple of transfer windows are one or two midfield players who can just bring something that little bit different to the mix,” he told the Evening Times.

“That is no disrespect to either Tom Rogic or Stuart Armstrong, the latter of whom gave the ball away a few times in Germany but who played with a lot of energy, but strengthening in that area of the park could be hugely beneficial.”
When Rodgers arrived in the summer, many supporters would have felt that there were too many options in midfield. And it is perhaps because of the bloated squad itself that Rodgers has been unable to address the issue.

Without moving at least one midfielder on, it would be difficult for the Celtic boss to justify bringing another in, especially when there are much thinner areas of the squad.
But Hay appears to believe that if Rodgers wants to be the man to lead the Hoops back towards the knockout stages of the Champions League at some stage in the future, he needs to start being ruthless in the transfer market.
