Celtic have already created a tremendous amount of daylight between themselves and their rivals.

Davie Hay believes that Celtic have the potential to go through the entire Scottish Premiership campaign unbeaten after their incredibly bright start, but suggested that the biggest indicator of whether that achievement is possible will come today, the Evening Times reports.

Brendan Rodgers’ men have made a blistering start in the top flight. After nine games, they have won eight and drawn one, lead their nearest challengers by seven points and have at least one game in hand over every team in the division.

With the title already looking to be a formality for the Hoops, talk about Rodgers’ men becoming Invincibles has already begun.

And while Hay is cautious about the possibility, he did suggest that it would be difficult to bet against them based on their start to the campaign.

“Up to now they are unbeaten. It’s a tall order, of course it is. But they have such a strong squad,” he told the Evening Times.

“If you look at Wednesday’s 4-0 win away to Ross County they recorded that result having made eight alterations to the starting line-up.”

Hay also suggested that their game with Aberdeen on Saturday could provide a massive indication as to whether they do have the quality to finish the league season without a single defeat.

“If they are going to come unstuck in a game that could very well be it,” he added.

“That may answer the question of whether they can go all season undefeated. If they manage to come back down the road with a point or even more in the bag, that could be a real indicator.”

Aberdeen have been Celtic’s main rivals for the title in recent years, and while the Bhoys won emphatically at Celtic Park back in August, the Dons are unbeaten at Pittodrie this term.

So, as Hay suggests, if Celtic come through the match unscathed, they will surely believe that they can go through the entire campaign without tasting defeat.
