Leeds United are going strong in the Championship at the moment.

David Wetherall suggested on The Noel Whelan Show on BBC Radio Leeds on Friday evening (broadcast from 6pm, October 7, 2016) that he would have been concerned about Leeds United a few weeks ago.

Leeds started the 2016-17 campaign badly and were in danger of getting sucked into a relegation battle in the Championship.

However, the West Yorkshire outfit are in good form at the moment and are in the running for a playoff spot.

The Whites are 11th in the Championship table at the moment with 16 points from 11 matches.

Leeds are just four points behind Birmingham City, who are currently sixth in the standings and occupy the final playoff spot.

Former Leeds defender Wetherall has admitted that he would have been concerned about Garry Monk’s side a few weeks ago.

“If you had asked me that question a few weeks ago, I would have been concerned,” said Wetherall on The Noel Whelan Show on BBC Radio Leeds on Friday evening (broadcast from 6pm, October 7, 2016) when asked for his opinion on Leeds.

“I think they have won five out of their last six. When you get on a run like that, it gives you that momentum, doesn’t it?

“I am sure everybody is a lot more positive now and looking up in the league above them instead of what’s happening down below, and hopefully that momentum can keep on going and the club can have a real push at the playoffs at least this season.”

Leeds are going strong at the moment, and they are getting positive results.

There is still a long way to go this season, and it is important that the Whites continue to win games.

The West Yorkshire outfit will take on Derby County away from home at the iPro Stadium in the Championship after the international break.
