Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers have a star in the form of this man, according to David Weir.
David Weir has told The Sunday Post that Rangers defender Rob Kiernan has the quality to play in the Premier League and Champions League.
The 25-year-old has started 15 Scottish Premiership outings for the Gers this season and has emerged as a prominent player at the heart of their defence.
It has not always been easy for Kiernan at Rangers and criticism has been a theme for a lot of his stint at Ibrox.
But Weir, assistant to manager Mark Warburton, feels that the English defender has the qualities needed to thrive among England and indeed Europe’s elite.
“He’s young, and he has every attribute to be a Premier League, a Champions League defender,” said Weir to The Sunday Post. “He’s two-footed and a real specimen. You couldn’t build him to look any more like a centre-half.
“He’s learning. This is the highest level he’s played at, so he’s getting tested and he’ll make mistakes. But don’t we all?”
Kiernan will be a big player for Rangers over the coming weeks.
Warburton’s side have three matches between Christmas Eve and December 31, with Celtic visiting Ibrox on New Year’s Eve.
The Hoops have comfortably beaten their Old Firm rivals in both meetings this season – a 5-1 thrashing at Parkhead and a 1-0, but one-sided, victory at Hampden in the Scottish League Cup semi-final in October.
