David Weir has said on Football Pass that Steven Gerrard will not leave Rangers, despite a vacancy at Tottenham Hotspur and the managerial merry-go-round that could now happen.

The Rangers legend believes that there will be interest in Gers boss Gerrard, but he is confident that the Liverpool legend will not leave Ibrox this summer.

Tottenham sacked Jose Mourinho as their first-team head coach yesterday, with Ryan Mason placed in charge for now.

Spurs are likely to be looking for a permanent successor to Mourinho at the end of the season.

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers is on the radar of Spurs, according to The Daily Mail.

If Rodgers goes to Spurs, then Leicester will have a managerial vacancy, and given the wonderful work that Gerrard has done at Rangers, they could well be interested in the former England international midfielder.

Weir said on Football Pass when asked about the situation: “I am sure he will, I am sure he will receive interest. There’s no doubt because of the job he has done at Rangers, now he has started to add trophies to that, as well so I am sure he will be on the radar of other clubs.”

The Rangers legend added: “I hope he stays at Rangers for a lot of years to come. I think the soundbites and the words we have heard from Steven reflect that.”

Rangers fans need not worry

Gerrard has guided Rangers to the Scottish Premiership title and to the Europa League Round of 16 this season.

The Liverpool legend seems happy at Ibrox and the fans adore him, and it is hard to see him leave Rangers at the end of the season.

True, managing in the Premier League is very tempting, but Gerrard has a good thing going at Rangers.
