Andre Gomes, signed on loan from Barcelona, played well for Everton against Liverpool at Anfield.
Gomes, who joined Everton on loan from Barcelona in the summer transfer window, played well against Liverpool in the Merseyside derby on Sunday evening.
According to WhoScored, the Portugal international central midfielder took one shot, had a pass accuracy of 82.2%, made one tackle, and one clearance, and attempted three dribbles in the Premier League game.
The 25-year-old has been playing well for the Toffees in recent weeks, and former Everton central defender Weir has been impressed.
Everton manager Marco Silva is also happy with how Gomes is progressing at Goodison Park.
Weir said about Gomes on Sky Sports Premier League on Sunday evening (6:49pm, December 2, 2018): “Based on what we have seen – he has only had six games – he has been fantastic. I thought he set the tone for Everton today. I thought he was brave.”
Silva told Everton’s official website: “Andre is still improving and that is normal. He is enjoying coming to work every day with a big smile on his face, working hard and performing well, like he showed again this afternoon. He is getting better.”
Permanent Everton contract?
Gomes is doing well for Everton at the moment, and it would make sense for Everton to be open to the idea of signing the central midfielder on a permanent contract next summer.
However, the 25-year-old has to show that he can play consistently well for the Toffees and for the rest of the season.
