The Gers assistant manager was speaking ahead of the return to domestic football.

Rangers assistant manager David Weir has spoken of the new challenge his team will face from this point onwards.

The Gers have been in imperious form in the league – winning nine out of nine games – and they have now faced and beaten every other team in the division.

Weir feels his team’s form has raised the fear factor among the rest of the Championship, meaning opposition teams will be less likely to open up and will instead look to hurt Rangers on the ounter-attack.

“Teams are trying to stop us and to make it more difficult for us, which you would expect,” he told rangers.co.uk.

“Maybe at the start there was less of a fear of Rangers with regards to opening up and having a go, while recently we’ve seen teams sit back and try to hit us on the counter attack.”

“It’s a different challenge for us and something we have to address, but everyone wants to beat Rangers – that’s always been the case – and particularly now as everyone wants to be the first to beat us.

“That goes with the territory of being here, and it’s a challenge we enjoy,” he added.

Being the first team to bring an end to the Gers’ 100% record will be a feather in the cap of whoever manages it, but given the gulf in quality between the Ibrox club and their rivals, it doesn’t look like happening any time soon.

Mark Warburton’s men have looked in complete control for the vast majority of their games this season and will now have a feel for what’s required against every team, having already defeated them.

Rangers look set to continue their march towards the title and will be confident of making it ten wins out of ten when Queen of the South arrive in Glasgow on Saturday.
