Phil Jagielka continues to be a prominent member in Everton’s side.

Former Everton captain David Weir has told the club’s official website that Phil Jagielka is equally as important on the pitch as he is in the changing room.
The 35-year-old centre-back has recently become first choice once again under Sam Allardyce, starting the last six Premier League matches and completing every single minute.
His return to the side has coincided with a decent run of form of just one loss in six to Manchester City, with three wins against Brighton, Stoke and Newcastle and draws against Liverpool and Swansea.

Weir, who captained Everton like Jagielka well into his late thirties, believes the former England international is roving just as effective on the pitch as he is off of it.
“The back four is settled now,” Weir said. “The goalkeeper is settled, you can see the team is starting to develop, and I think there’s definitely positive signs moving forward.
“Jags brings a lot to the team. He brings his experience, he brings his knowledge, and I think he makes other players round about him better as well.”

It remains to be seen what kind of a future Jagielka has at Goodison Park ahead of the summer transfer window, with only one more year remaining on a contract the Daily Star claim is worth £50,000 a week.
The former Sheffield United defender is expected to start on Saturday as Everton travel to Yorkshire to face Huddersfield, as they look to build on the narrow 1-0 win over Newcastle.
