Rangers assistant manager David Weir has told the club’s official website that experienced stars Kenny Miller and Lee Wallace will be important in the clash with Aberdeen.
The Gers travel to Pittodrie on Sunday afternoon in arguably the biggest tie of the weekend in the Scottish Premiership.
They are looking to return to winning ways in the league after failing to pick up a win in their last three games.
They will face a hostile atmosphere, with the rivalry between the two clubs a fierce one to say the least.
And Weir says the experience of the likes of Miller and Wallace is key, although he does back the club’s youngsters to handle it.
“They are important, Lee [Wallace] and Kenny [Miller], I think it’s important that they share their knowledge,” he told the club’s official website.
“Ultimately, the lads who are going up and experiencing it for the first time, they’ve got to find their feet themselves. The senior players and staff will help them, but they are more than ready for it.”
Rangers will certainly need to put a performance in this weekend if they are to keep their slim title hopes alive.
If Celtic beat Kilmarnock on Saturday afternoon the Gers will find themselves seven points behind the leaders before the Bhoys have even kicked a ball.
With Brendan Rodgers side also enjoying a game in hand, that is a gap that Mark Warburton’s side cannot allow if they are going to get anywhere near winning the title this year.
