Former Ibrox star David Weir has suggested to The Scottish Sun that Rangers manager Steven Gerrard needs to sign players who will make the team “significantly better”.

Signings made

Rangers have been quite busy in the summer transfer window, with Steven Davis making his loan deal permanent, Greg Stewart joining on a free, and Jake Hastie and Jordan Jones completing their moves to Ibrox after signing pre-contract agreements in January.

Reported targets

According to The Scottish Sun, the Gers plan to secure the services of George Edmundson and Joe Aribo soon this summer.

The Daily Record has claimed that Rangers want to bring Liverpool winger Ryan Kent back to Ibrox, with the 22-year-old having played on loan at the Gers from the Premier League during the 2018-19 campaign.

Weir, who played for Rangers from 2007 until 2012, was also the assistant manager at the Ibrox club from the summer of 2015 until February 2017.

Advice for Rangers

Weir told The Scottish Sun: “You can see from the profile of the players Rangers are going for. They are younger, more up and coming and there is value in them.

“But the ones that are going to change their team are the ones they really need. They need players who can make them significantly better, because they have got a good solid base now.”
