Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers and Neil Lennon’s Celtic will fight for the Scottish Premiership title next season.
David Weir at Rangers
Weir, who played for Rangers from 2007 until 2012, was also the assistant manager at the Ibrox club from the summer of 2015 until February 2017.
The former Scotland international central defender does not believe that Rangers will find it east to win the Scottish Premiership title next season.
Weir told The Scottish Sun: “Steven Gerrard was right to say he doesn’t have a magic wand . . . but you also NEED a magic wand!
“You need to be lucky and if you’re not getting backed then it’s really difficult. You need to spend more, be creative, get loans or sell someone to fund bringing players in.”
Weir added: “I think next season is going to be really interesting and there is definitely a bit of optimism at Rangers.
“There have been changes at Celtic and it is how the recruitment goes. The next month to six weeks is going to be really important in terms of how both teams fare next season. I think it is going to be a good and exciting league.”

Title race
Celtic have won the Scottish Premiership title for the past eight seasons, and Neil Lennon’s side will head into the 2019-20 campaign as favourites to make it nine in a row.
It is going to be tough for Rangers, as the Hoops remain the best team in Scotland and will get better if they make good signings in the summer transfer window.
Rangers, though, did give Celtic a hard time before the mid-season winter break in 2018-19, and if the Gers are able to maintain consistency in 2019-20, then they could push the Bhoys all the way.
