Mark Warburton’s Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers won 2-0 on the weekend.
Rangers’ assistant manager David Weir has told Rangers TV that he was pleased with Phillipe Senderos’s performance on Saturday.
The Gers put a truly miserable month of September behind them by beating Partick Thistle 2-0 yesterday afternoon.
Niko Kranjcar opened the scoring on 33 minutes at Ibrox, before Andy Halliday netted in his third successive outing by doubling the advantage before the break.
It was not a vintage Rangers performance, but the points were always far more important than the display for a team whose last four Premiership games yielded two defeats and two draws, dropping 10 points in the process.
Some supporters might have been a tad worried about seeing Senderos’s name included in the first XI.
Before yesterday, Rangers fans had only seen him in action in the Old Firm last month, in which the Gers lost 5-1 and the Swiss defender, on his debut, was sent off.
But Weir, who did the post-match duties as a result of Mark Warburton’s touchline ban, says the former Arsenal, Valencia and AC Milan centre-back brought a certain calmness to the side on Saturday.
“Clint has been ill the last couple of days, so Phillipe has stepped in and I thought he did well,” he told Rangers TV.
“It’s difficult because he hasn’t played a lot football recently, but he’s very experienced, very composed and he brings a calmness to the team.”
