Tottenham Hotspur strengthened their grip on a place in the Premier League top four.

David Wagner told Sky Sports that Tottenham deserved their win over Huddersfield Town on Saturday and labelled Harry Kane’s pass for Son Heung-min’s second goal as unbelievable.

The Terriers may have been hoping that Spurs’ upcoming Champions League last 16 second-leg tie with Juventus would give them a good chance to sneak a surprise result at Wembley – the ground in which Huddersfield secured promotion to the Premier League last season.

However, Mauricio Pochettino’s men ensured that their current unbeaten run – which stretches all the way back to mid-December – continues as Son scored twice to secure the three points.

And Wagner admitted that his side could do nothing to stop Spurs on the day, while he also reserved particular praise for the cross from Kane which allowed Son to put the game to bed early on in the second-half.

“There’s no doubt they were the better team and it was a deserved defeat even though in the second half we tried what we were able to do, but we got beaten by quality, that’s something we have to accept,” he told Sky Sports.

“The seconds before the second goal shows everything. Incey unfortunately was not able to score, then one missed pass and an unbelievable ball from Harry Kane, top quality, and they scored the second.”

With Juventus and a shot at reaching the last eight in the Champions League on the horizon, it would have been easy for Spurs to take one eye off Rochdale and Huddersfield, but they have got to be pleased as they scored eight goals across the two games and maintained that unbeaten run.

That run is bound to give Spurs a huge amount of confidence heading into the clash with Juve – and with the Old Lady unbeaten in all competitions since November, Pochettino’s men are going to need all that belief on Wednesday.
