Everton earned a valuable three points against West Ham last night.

David Unsworth addressed the media in the aftermath of the Toffees’ superb 4-0 win over West Ham last night, and delivered a message of gratitude to the Everton fans, after he was given a standing ovation by the Goodison Park faithful at the full-time whistle, as quoted by the club’s official website.

Last night’s victory lifted Everton up to 13th in the Premier League table, and Sam Allardyce can now begin his reign on Merseyside with real enthusiasm and hope rather than trepidation.

Unsworth deserves great credit for steadying the ship at Goodison during his temporary reign in charge, amidst what has been rather challenging circumstances, both on and off the pitch.

The 44-year-old addressed the media following his side’s win over the Hammers, and expressed his thanks for the Everton fans, for sticking by both him and the players throughout what has been a troublesome couple of months, as quoted by EvertonFC.com:

“That was very special and I thank the supporters for that. I have always had a wonderful affiliation with the Everton fans. I had a great relationship with them throughout my playing career. That was a nice personal moment and I thank them for that. It means the world to me. When we took over we were in the bottom three, so to get us up the league to 13th is a step in the right direction.”

Next up for Allardyce’s men is a home game against Huddersfield Town in the Premier League on Saturday, and a win there could be the start of a real resurgence in form for the Toffees.
