Everton loanee Anton Donkor is expected to miss the rest of the season with injury.
Everton under-23 boss David Unsworth has hinted that Anton Donkor could still end up at Goodison Park permanently, despite injury curtailing his progress at Goodison Park, as per his comments to the Liverpool Echo.
Donkor was brought to Everton on loan from Wolfsburg during the January transfer window, in a ‘try before you buy’ deal.
Everton wanted to take a closer look at the young attacker, before committing to purchase him on a permanent transfer.
However, after Donkor made a handful of impressive performance for Everton’s development squad, he has picked up a serious injury.
The 19-year-old is expected to miss the rest of the season after damaging his ankle.
But Unsworth has hinted that Ronald Koeman could still look to sign the prospect on a permanent transfer.
“If it is the end of his season it is disappointing but he’s shown great qualities in a few games and in training so it’s not dead in the water yet, so we’ll see,” Unsworth said.
Everton will have to pay £1.5 million if they are to sign Donkor on a permanent deal at the end of the season (Liverpool Echo)
The Toffees signed Donkor ahead of Aston Villa during the January transfer window.
