Everton remain without a permanent manager, nearly a month since Ronald Koeman’s sacking.

David Unsworth has shared his surprise that Sam Allardyce would rule himself out of the running to become Everton’s next manager.
Speaking to Talksport earlier this week, Allardyce, who had previously denied any contact with Everton, said that discussions with the club “never materialised as I thought (they) would”.
An approach for Watford’s manager Marco Silva is said to have failed in the meantime, leaving Under-23s boss Unsworth in temporary charge for Saturday’s trip to Crystal Palace – nearly a month since Everton chose to sever their ties with Ronald Koeman.
When asked about Allardyce’s comments at his pre-game press conference, broadcast via Everton’s official Periscope account on Friday, Unsworth replied: “Well I have to say, I saw that, and it would surprise me that anybody would rule themselves out of potentially being Everton manager.

“This is an amazing club with, in my opinion, the best fans. We saw that in the last game at Goodison. Anybody who would rule themselves out of this great job would be a surprise to me, but that’s up to those individuals.”
There has been speculation that Unsworth, who has lost three of his four games as Everton’s caretaker, could be handed the role until the end of the campaign.

And when asked what his response would be were he offered such an opportunity, the 44-year-old said: “The people that matter know my position they know my feelings and that goes without saying, but other people will make that decision.
“So that’s up to them. I’ll just be focused on taking the team tomorrow, getting the result that we need and what will be will be.”
Everton have not won away in the Premier League since their last trip to Crystal Palace, in January 2017.
