David Unsworth doesn’t want to manage Everton’s Antony Evans next term

Everton youngster Antony Evans has been in fine form for their development side this season.

David Unsworth has told the Liverpool Echo that he does not want to be managing Everton’s Antony Evans next season.

Everton’s youngsters have done the double this year, and there are a number of their players who look ready to play senior football now.

The Toffees’ development side have really impressed Unsworth, and Evans is one of the players that the under 23’s boss is convinced can make the step up.

Unsworth now wants Everton to offer Evans a chance in their first-team or loan him out next term.

He said: “I hope not. I hope he’s in somebody’s first-team. Hopefully ours, if not someone else’s on loan.

“He’s done his time now in the under-23s and he’s done me proud. I love him. He’s technically outstanding and I hope he has a really great career.”

Evans has been given a taste of League One football this season, as he spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Blackpool.

Since returning to Everton, Evans has notched three goals in 12 matches.

To break into Everton’s first-team Evans would have to beat off a lot of competition, as he plays in an attacking midfield role where Marco Silva already has plenty of options.

If Everton do decide to loan out Evans then there is likely to be plenty of interest in his services from Football League clubs.
