West Ham United are a club deep in trouble, and suffered another heavy defeat at their new stadium yesterday.

West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan explained what disappointed him most about yesterday’s pathetic showing by his club during their 5-0 loss at home to Manchester City, when writing his column for the club’s official website.

The East London outfit have suffered some heavy defeats this season, including a 5-1 hammering at home to Arsenal in the Premier League, but there was something in the manner of their defeat last night that suggests Slaven Bilic could be in for a tremendously testing second half of the season in charge of the club.

Dimitri Payet simply doesn’t want to be there, so the club must sell him in January and bring in younger, hungrier players who are willing to give their all for the cause.

Another item high on Bilic’s agenda will be to bring in a top-class striker this month, as their lack of firepower in forward areas has begun to become a real problem.

And Sullivan pinpointed a particular aspect of last night’s game which particularly irked him last night, when writing his column for WHUFC.com:

“We simply have to concede that last night’s performance was just not good enough. Manchester City may be an excellent attacking side, but we allowed them to carve us open time and time again, which was very disappointing.”

The only positive to be drawn from last night’s horror show is that the Hammers have just the Premier League to focus on now, as their need for points becomes more pressing by the week.
