West Ham United co-chairman David Sullivan has told the club’s official website that he believes Simone Zaza could become a major star at the club.

The striker joined the Hammers last week, securing a season-long loan deal from Italian giants Juventus with a view to a permanent move.

He has been brought in to add some much-needed competition and indeed quality to Slaven Bilic’s attacking options this season.

That competition is especially necessary following the injuries to Andre Ayew and Andy Carroll at the beginning of this campaign.

And Sullivan says that they believe the Italian international can become a major star at the club.

“This has been a big few days for the club following the signing of Simone Zaza from Juventus over the weekend,” he told the club’s official website.

“Zaza could become one of the major stars and we saw his qualities when he came on and scored at London Stadium a few weeks ago. He’s fit and ready to play. We expect him to lead the line against Watford.”

West Ham will certainly be hoping that Zaza can go on to become a star signing this season.

They were highly successful under Slaven Bilic last year but their lack of a regular goalscorer was a major issue that arguably held them back from being even stronger.

If Zaza can prove to be that man then the Hammers could be set for a very exciting first year at the London Stadium.
