West Ham United co-owner David Sullivan has a habit of putting his foot in it with his public comments.

Fans arrive at the London Stadium during the Premier League match between West Ham United and Burnley at London Stadium on March 10, 2018 in London, England.

West Ham fans are not happy with David Sullivan, David Gold and vice-chairman Karren Brady over what they feel are broken promises since the club’s move to the former Olympic Stadium.

The trio were full of promises to fans ahead of their move to the former Olympic Stadium back in 2016.

Issues at the new stadium have driven a wedge between factions of supporters and the board.

Woeful transfer business has not helped either with fans left disgruntled over West Ham‘s dealings in the transfer market and a reported net spend of just £7 million in the two years since the ground move.

Supporters were promised big money, marquee signings as they made the move to Stratford.

Indeed the ability to compete with the Premier League elite as a result of the stadium move was held up as a carrot to fans dubious over the decision to leave the club’s famous Boleyn Ground home of 112 years.

The Hammers have endured two turbulent seasons on and off the pitch since the big move to the London Stadium.

That took its toll on West Ham’s loyal supporters, 52,000 of whom purchased season tickets at their new home for consecutive seasons – second behind only Manchester United.

Protests spilled onto the pitch back in March during a 3-0 home defeat to Burnley and supporters have since made it clear they expect big changes this summer.

Manuel Pellegrini has become the highest paid manager in the club’s history – and the first with a league title on his CV – a positive appointment.

But Sullivan put his foot in it again when he declared on the club’s official website: “We have listened to fans who asked us to be ambitious.

“We hope they agree it is an exciting appointment.”

Whether they agree or not West Ham fans will be quick to remind Sullivan it was he, Gold and Brady who promised and pledged ambition and used it to help persuade fans leaving Upton Park was the way forward not the other way around.

All Hammers fans have done since is highlight the club’s failure to DELIVER on those promises.

West Ham supporters will be hoping that is all about to change.
