Arsenal have been linked with Celtic’s Kieran Tierney and Crystal Palace whizkid Wilfried Zaha this summer.
David Seaman has admitted that he would prefer Arsenal to sign Celtic’s Kieran Tierney this summer rather than Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha.
The Sun have claimed that Palace want an astonishing £120 million for their winger, with the Gunners putting in an opening bid of £40 million on the table for the boyhood Arsenal fan.
That isn’t the only transfer rumour circulating around the Emirates Stadium, with the North London club also keen on Celtic’s Tierney, as reported by the Sun.
Speaking to Sky Sports News (01/07/2019 at 12:40 pm), Seaman, who is a pundit for TalkSport, made it clear that he would prefer the defensive option rather than a Zaha-like purchase.
“I know there’s talk about Zaha coming, but that’s not the position that we need, which is strange,” Seaman told Sky Sports News. “I’m sure the club know what they’re doing. And it would be nice to see a bit more cash.
On Zaha signing: “I’d be surprised if he did. I would rather a good defender wear it. That’s one of many [on Tierney]. We need defenders. That’s been highlighted over the last few seasons.”
Simply put, Arsenal need more defenders walking through the doors of the Emirates this summer rather than attackers because the defence is a serious area of weakness for Unai Emery’s team.
That doesn’t bode well for Celtic, who will be keen to keep hold of their talent, and like it is with most English teams when they have the money and they offer the right price, it’s hard for the Scottish club to turn the offer down.
