Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil have been in spectacular form for the Gunners in recent weeks.

Arsenal legend David Seaman has implored the club’s hierarchy to tie down star players Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez to improved new contracts, with the in-form pair’s current deals at The Emirates set to expire in 2018, as quoted by the Irish Independent.

The Gunners currently find themselves in a rich vein of form both domestically and in Europe, and a large part of that is down to the scintillating performances of Ozil and Sanchez, who both played starring roles in last night’s comprehensive 6-0 drubbing of Champions League Group A rivals Ludogorets.

German international Ozil registered his first ever professional hat-trick against the Bulgarian outfit with a trio of exceptionally well-taken finishes, whilst Sanchez also netted his sixth goal of the season by opening the scoring with a sumptuous first-half lob.

The result means that Arsenal have now won their last seven games in all competitions, and the Gunners finally look well-equipped to challenge for major silverware, with world-class stars Ozil and Sanchez, who already boast 12 goals and six assists between them this season, reminding Arsene Wenger just how invaluable they are in his quest to bring sustained success back to The Emirates after a turbulent decade in North London.

With both Sanchez, 27, and Ozil, 28, now entering the prime years of their footballing careers, the pair, whose current contract’s expire at the end of next season, are looking to secure their long-term futures, whether that be at The Emirates or elsewhere.

The Independent claim that both players are holding out for weekly wages of £250,000 on any contract The Gunners may bring to the table. Club legend David Seaman has urged the club to shatter their current wage structure to secure the futures of the club’s two biggest stars, regardless of how high their wage demands may be.

Speaking to The Independent, the goalkeeper, who made over 400 appearances for Arsenal, said: “These two are quality players so you give them what they deserve. If that’s the top wages at Arsenal then so be it.

“If everyone’s getting little rises here and there then it’s okay. I’m not a manager but you’ve got to juggle that.

“I remember when I was playing, I was near the top, and it’s a juggling thing. You’ve got to make sure that the players that influence the team the most are the players that get paid the most.”

Arsenal currently sit second in the Premier League table, level on points with leaders Manchester City, and The Gunners’ will want to secure the futures of key men Ozil and Sanchez sooner rather than later to avoid any unwanted distractions, as they look to win their league title since 2004.
