Speaking on the Seaman Says Podcast, Arsenal legend David Seaman has shared the details of what he told Aaron Ramsdale after his performance against Tottenham at the weekend.
Ramsdale was brilliant against Spurs. He conceded just one goal while he made a couple of great saves that allowed Arsenal to stay in control of the match.
In truth, the goalkeeper didn’t have all that much to do, but when he was called upon he did his job fantastically.
Seaman spoke to him after the match, and he assured him that north London derbies are usually much tougher games.
What’s been said?
Seaman was reviewing Ramsdale’s performance against Spurs.
“He had three saves to make, a save in the first-half that you’d expect him to make. A save from Kane that was probably hitting the post, but he got a hand to it, and then a brilliant save at 3-1 where he tipped it onto the crossbar, that’s in the mix for save of the week. It was a good performance from him, but I spoke to him afterwards and I said to him ‘by the way, north London derbies are never usually that easy, so don’t get used to that.’” Seaman said.

Tougher challenges to come
Seaman is absolutely right when he says north London derbies aren’t usually that easy.
Tottenham simply weren’t at the races against their rivals, and perhaps most importantly, Harry Kane wasn’t at his best.
If Kane is back in form the next time Spurs face Arsenal, Ramsdale will certainly have a lot more to do, and he’ll have to be in top form to stop the England captain from finding the back of the net.
Luckily, it seems as though Ramsdale has a brilliant mentor in Seaman who should be able to guide him through even the trickiest periods at Arsenal.
