Speaking on the Seaman Says Podcast, David Seaman has been discussing Bukayo Saka and his penalty against Liverpool.
Saka scored the decisive penalty against the Reds at the weekend as the Gunners won 3-2 in a crucial clash.
The youngster stepped up to take a crucial penalty, and there will have been more than one fan in the stands who would’ve been thinking about the Euro 2020 final and Saka’s miss in that situation.
Seaman himself says that this penalty reminded him of Stuart Pearce’s penalty at Euro ’96, where the left-back buried the demons of Italia 90 where he missed a penalty in a crucial game.

Saka’s Pearce moment
Seaman spoke about the winger’s penalty and how it reminded him of his playing days.
“Especially Saka, when he put the ball down, it was like a Stuart Pearce moment from Euro 96 and I felt ‘please let him score, please let him score.’ And that’s exactly how I felt when Stuart took his penalty at Wembley. How brave is that? That is guts, hats off to Saka,” Seaman said.
No more doubts
The first few times Saka went to take a penalty after Euro 2020 there will surely have been some doubts in his mind.
Saka probably thinks about that penalty save from Gianluigi Donnarumma every single day, but now, when he steps up to take a penalty, he’s confident and assured, scoring vital spot kicks against both Chelsea and Liverpool in recent months.
Saka has taken the lowest moment of his career and turned it into a positive as he’s now become one of the single-most reliable penalty takers in the Premier League.
Much like Stuart Pearce, Saka has exorcised his demons and come out stronger on the other side.
