Speaking on the Seaman Says Podcast, boyhood Leeds United fan David Seaman has been discussing the Whites and their underwhelming start to the season.
It’s no secret that Leeds haven’t lived up to expectations so far this term. They’re 17th in the league and just three points above the relegation zone despite finishing in the top half last season.
Seaman hasn’t been impressed by Marcelo Bielsa’s side’s performances, but he puts their recent struggles down to one player’s absence.

Seaman reckons that Leeds are really missing Patrick Bamford right now.
“I watched it on TV and the highlights and they’re really missing Bamford. The confidence just isn’t there yet, I think we were lucky that it was against Norwich. But when you’re playing well and you pick three points up, you’ve got to be happy,” Seaman said.
Has to hit the ground running
Patrick Bamford had an excellent season in 2020/21, and he needs to hit the ground running once he returns from injury.
On the surface, it does look as though Leeds are missing Bamford, but let’s not forget that he’s only had one good Premier League season, so it’s not great to hang all of your hopes on a player who may not repeat the trick this time around.
Bamford’s return could spark a run of form for Leeds, but there may be problems that run slightly deeper than an injury to their first-choice striker.
