Speaking on the Seaman Says Podcast, Arsenal legend David Seaman has been discussing the Gunners’ ongoing goalkeeping situation.
Arsenal have two solid goalkeeping options in Aaron Ramsdale and Bernd Leno, and this weekend we saw Ramsdale start between the sticks in the Premier League for the first time.
Seaman says that Ramsdale kept a great clean sheet, but he also claimed that he’d be a bit annoyed if he was Leno at this moment in time.
What’s been said?
Seaman gave his view on Ramsdale and Leno.
“It was great that Ramsdale played as well. It was a great clean sheet for him. I heard on the radio today that whoever is in is in and if you’re not you’re not, make a mistake and you’re out. Is that good for the defence? I’m not too sure. It’s hard for the goalkeepers that’s for sure. If I was Leno I’d feel a bit aggrieved by it if I’m honest, he hasn’t really played badly,” Seaman said.

Not quite true
Seaman says that Leno has every right to be aggrieved, but that’s not a view we can get on board with.
Leno started all three of Arsenal’s opening Premier League games and he conceded nine goals during that time.
He had a stinker against Brentford with his indecisiveness and weakness from a long throw leading to the Gunners conceding, while he let five in against Man City, which certainly can’t be described as a good performance.
Ramsdale was deserving of his chance, and he kept a clean sheet against Norwich, so Arteta’s decision was immediately justified.
