Speaking on the Seaman Says Podcast, David Seaman has been discussing the captaincy situation at Arsenal, and he’s picked out a few potential candidates, including Kieran Tierney.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has had the armband taken off of him, so the Gunners need a new skipper, and Seaman believes there are a few players who could fill the void.
Indeed, the Gunners legend named the likes of Granit Xhaka, Alexandre Lacazette and Ben White as players who could step up, but it sounds as though he’s a big fan of the idea of Kieran Tierney taking the armband.
What’s been said about Tierney.
Seaman says that Tierney is a proper leader in that he leads by example.
“There are players in there, look at people like Xhaka, Lacazette. They’re captain material within that team, and then you look at Ben White, even Kieran Tierney, he’s a proper leader, he just leads by example. When I think of a captain I think of people who lead by example, Tony Adams, Patrick Vieira and even Mikel when he was there,” Seaman said.

Perfect pick
Tierney could be an excellent choice to be Arsenal’s next captain.
The full-back is only 24 years old, but let’s not forget, he’s previously captained Celtic and he has all of the passion and ability necessary to be a skipper.
As Seaman says, the defender leads by example, but he’s also never been afraid to make his feelings known on the pitch.
If he’s given the chance, Tierney could end up going down as one of the great Arsenal captains.
