The former goalkeeper is hoping the Gunners can set up a last game decider with Olympiakos and still reach the last 16 of the Champions League.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Arsenal legend David Seaman was full of praise for Petr Cech after his performance against Bayern Munich.
The veteran goalkeeper was returned to the starting line up for the game against the German giants having been left out of the Gunners’ opening two Champions League fixtures, and put in a performance of the highest order.
He made several big saves to keep the score at 0-0, with one particular stop preventing the in-form Robert Lewandowski from putting his side into the lead.
While Seaman was impressed with the Czech keeper’s contribution to the contest, he says it was his calm nature that truly impressed him.
“You saw what Cech did last night, that is why he should be playing. He made some fantastic saves,” he told talkSPORT.
“What I like about Petr Cech is that even when he makes a save he is calm afterwards. He doesn’t get up, start ranting and making the defence uneasy. He is calm, gets on with it, gets the defence sorted and moves on.”
The 2-0 win at the Emirates was a big one for the Gunners as it gives them a fighting chance of making the last 16 despite them currently sitting bottom of their group.
The still face a trip to the Allianz Arena in their next game, with Bayern sure to be desperate to avenge the loss suffered on Tuesday evening, as well as a trip to Greece to take on Olympiakos.
Seaman, though, believes that can secure enough points to make that trip a last-game decider and secure a top-two spot.
“We know what Arsenal are capable of,” he added.
“If they play well, then they can beat anybody. They played well in a different way last night but hopefully they will get the chance of going to Olympiakos and needing to get that win.”
