David Puig kicked off his 2026 season in style on Sunday by securing his maiden DP World Tour victory at the Australian PGA Championship in Brisbane.

Heading into the final round of the season opener, Puig found himself tied for the lead. But the Spaniard managed to take charge of the tournament to win by two at Royal Queensland.

The 23-year-old birdied three of his first four holes on Sunday to put himself in control. And he was able to cruise across the line and secure a third professional title.

Remarkably, Puig did not make a bogey in his final 40 holes of the week in what was his first event as a full member of the DP World Tour.

David Puig celebrates his Australian PGA Championship win on social media

Puig has been a stalwart on LIV Golf ever since the league’s first event at Centurion back in 2022.

While he is yet to win on LIV, he did manage to finish 10th in the individual standings during the 2025 season. He finished fourth in Adelaide, Singapore, and Indianapolis.

And he will be hoping that his victory in Australia will set the stage for a fantastic 2026 season on LIV.

Puig has now taken to Instagram to express his delight at securing the win.

He wrote: DP World Tour Champion! Awesome week in Brisbane for the BMW Australian PGA Championship! Big thanks to everyone involved in the @pgaofaustralia and @royalqueenslandgolfclub for running such a great event! Couldn’t have done it without my team and all the support! Hungry for more! Vamos!!!!!!

The remarkable run David Puig is on which is going under the radar

It is no secret to anyone who has watched LIV over the past few years that Puig is a tremendous talent.

But his consistency has arguably gone under the radar.

You would have to go back to Andalucia in 2024 for the last time Puig finished a LIV event outside of the top 20.

Of course, it is valid to have criticism of the strength in depth on LIV. There is a considerable gulf between their superstar players and those towards the bottom of the standings.

But Puig deserves enormous credit for finishing in the top 20 in his last 15 LIV events.

And with the league moving to four rounds in 2026, perhaps his win in Australia can be considered a hugely positive sign for the months to come.
