David Prutton says Garry Monk has done a brilliant job at Leeds United. He tips Leeds to pick up full three points against Wigan on Sunday.

Sky Sports pundit, David Prutton, says Garry Monk has done a brilliant job at Leeds United, despite failing to take his side to the play-offs.

At one point of time, it seemed like Leeds would finish within top five, but a string of poor results in the vital month of April meant The Whites were left only with disappointment.

When Leeds needed to tighten the grip on their play-off position, they took their foot off the gas. Leeds managed just one win in their last seven games in April, losing four of them.

Despite the obvious disappointment, Prutton has praised Monk for raising the level of expectation. He says that Monk has done a brilliant job, taking into context the squad depth of the other play-off sides, and particularly Brighton and Newcastle United – the two sides that gained automatic promotion.

Wigan Athletic, on the other hand, are already relegated, and Prutton doesn’t fancy them picking up points against Leeds this weekend.

Leeds showed a tremendous fighting spirit to level 3-3 against Norwich City last Saturday, and Prutton tips them to win by a 1-0 margin on Sunday.

“If you compare Leeds’ squad to the other play-off sides, and particularly the two that went up automatically, I think Garry Monk has done brilliantly,” Prutton told Sky Sports.

“They have just run out of steam at the wrong time.

“I can see them going to Wigan and doing well, it’s just a shame it comes a little too late for their play-off hopes.”
