Sheffield Wednesday and Sunderland will face each other in the Championship this week.

Former Nottingham Forest and Leeds United midfielder David Prutton has predicted on Skysports.com that Sheffield Wednesday and Sunderland will play out a draw this week.

Wednesday will take on Sunderland at the Hillsborough Stadium in the Championship on Wednesday evening.

Former Southampton and Wednesday midfielder Prutton has predicted that the match will end in a 2-2 draw.

“Sheffield Wednesday have got so much firepower and they need to start producing sooner rather than later,” Prutton wrote on Skysports.com. “It’s not been the best start for them.

“Sunderland got a great result at Norwich on Sunday as Simon Grayson got off the mark. He likes a low maintenance side and he’s slowly turning around the squad to get that there. I think this will be an entertaining draw.”

A footnote added: “Prutton predicts: 2-2.”

Wednesday have one of the best and strongest squads in the Championship, but the Owls have made a disappointing start to the season.

Carlos Carvalhal’s side lost 1-0 to Preston North End away from home in their opening Championship game of the season and drew 1-1 with Queens Park Rangers at home at the weekend.

The Owls, though, did get the better of Chesterfield 4-1 at home in the first round of the EFL Cup at the Hillsborough Stadium last week.

Meanwhile, Sunderland won 3-1 against Norwich City away from home at Carrow Road in the Championship at the weekend.

The Black Cats drew 1-1 with Derby County at the Stadium of Light in their opening game of the Championship season, before winning 1-0 against Bury away from home in the first round of the EFL Cup last week.
