Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest will face each other at St. James’ Park in the EFL Cup this evening.

Championship club Forest will take on Premier League side Newcastle away from home at St. James’ Park in the second round of the EFL Cup.
Former Forest midfielder Prutton has predicted the Reds to win the tie and progress to the third round of the competition.

“Graeme Souness was very critical about Newcastle’s defending at the weekend, and rightly so,” Prutton wrote on Skysports.com.
“They also have problems at the other end of the field, and Dwight Gayle could use a game here to get off the mark this season.
“Nottingham Forest have had a decent start and they could give Newcastle a tough game.
“Daryl Murphy will be desperate to start and score at his old side where he didn’t get much of a look-in last season. We could be in for a shock at St James’ Park.”
A footnote added: “Prutton predicts: 0-1.”

Newcastle won automatic promotion from the Championship to the Premier League at the end of last season.
The Magpies are one of the biggest clubs in England and have a strong reputation, but they have made a very disappointing start to their 2017-18 Premier League campaign.
Rafael Benitez’s side have already lost both of their league games, and it is looking like they will be fighting for survival in the English top flight.
On the other hand, Forest have made a strong start under manager Mark Warburton and are going to challenge for the Championship playoffs.
The Reds have picked up nine points from their opening four league fixtures and will be determined to get the better of Newcastle in the EFL Cup this evening.
