Leeds United host Hull City in the Championship at Elland Road this weekend, with a place in the play-off spots up for grabs for the Whites.

David Prutton has suggested to Sky Sports that he is expecting that Leeds will move themselves back into the Championship play-off places at the weekend when they face Hull City at Elland Road.

Having won four of their last six, Thomas Christiansen’s men go into Saturday’s clash just one point off the top six in the second tier, and with Aston Villa and Sheffield United – the two teams directly above them in the table – playing each other on the same day, the Whites know that victory will see them move back into the play-off places.

Hull however, have made an encouraging start to life under new boss Nigel Adkins, beating Brentford 3-2 and putting up a spirited fight in a 1-0 defeat to automatic-promotion chasers Cardiff City last time out.

And with Leeds getting the better of Norwich by a single goal in their most recent outing, Prutton has predicted that the two sides will repeat their previous scorelines when they meet this weekend.

Hull's head coach Nigel Adkins looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Hull City and Brentford at KCOM Stadium on December 9, 2017 in Hull, England.

“Three points for Leeds will lift them back into the play-off places this weekend, which is a great achievement considering how bad their form was a few weeks ago,” he told Sky Sports while explaining why he is expecting Leeds to win 1-0.

“The defeat at Cardiff last weekend was a bit of a bump back down to earth for Nigel Adkins following the victory in his first game and to be honest I think it will be a similar result for them on Saturday.”

With all of Leeds’ next three opponents currently situated inside the bottom six in the table, Christiansen’s men will surely feel that keeping their winning run going and taking nine points out of nine has got to be the target up until the end of the year.

But with Hull boasting some momentum after appointing their new manager – even after losing their last game – Leeds certainly cannot afford to take the Tigers lightly.
