David Prutton has told Sky Sports that he expects Leeds United to maintain their red-hot form and win away to Burton Albion on Boxing Day.

Thomas Christiansen’s side visit the Pirelli Stadium on the back of a hard-fought 1-0 win at home to Norwich on Saturday, which propelled them into the top six of the Championship.

In doing so, Leeds have now only lost one of their last seven Championship games – a 4-1 defeat away to league leaders Wolves – and the West Yorkshire side visit Albion chasing a fifth win in their last six matches.

The Whites thumped Nigel Clough’s side 5-0 in the reverse fixture at Elland Road back in September but it seems unlikely that they will reproduce that mauling next week.

Burton moved out of the relegation zone on Saturday with a 2-1 win away to Reading for a second successive victory – the first time they’ve won back-to-back games this season.

Clough has Albion playing well at long last, but former Leeds midfielder Prutton believes that his old side will edge it 1-0.

He told Sky Sports: “What a week it has been for Burton. Two fantastic wins at Bolton and Reading have lifted them all the way out of the relegation zone at a time where they looked to be in real trouble and in danger of slipping away.

“They’re up against a Leeds side who are feeling good again, though, and are back in the play-offs after a decent run. This will be a tight game, but I think Thomas Christiansen’s side will nick the win.”
