Villa will take on Sunderland at Villa Park in the Championship on Tuesday evening.

The Villans will head into the game on the back of a 2-1 victory over Queens Park Rangers away from home at Loftus Road in the league.

The Black Cats are four points behind 21st-placed Birmingham City and are in danger of going down to League One at the end of the season.

Sunderland have appointed a new manager, Chris Coleman, and the fans will be hoping that the team’s results improve.

Former Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Prutton, though, believes that Sunderland are in for disappointment this week.

Prutton wrote on Skysports.com: “Starts in the Sky Bet Championship don’t come much tougher than a trip to Villa Park!

“But that’s what awaits Chris Coleman and Sunderland on Tuesday night, and what a marker it would be to lay down if he can get a result.

“However, Aston Villa got a great win at the weekend after coming back at QPR, especially when you consider who they have beaten at Loftus Road in recent weeks. I feel this will be a narrow home win.”

A footnote added: “Prutton predicts: 2-1.”
