Aston Villa and Hull City will face each other in the Championship this weekend.

Former Leeds United and Nottingham Forest midfielder David Prutton has predicted on SKysports.com that Aston Villa will win against Hull City this weekend.

Villa will take on Hull at Villa Park in the Championship on Saturday evening, and the 35-year-old has backed the Villans to pick up all three points from the encounter.

“With Steve Bruce and John Terry leading them, Aston Villa should be right up there and they’ll want to show what they can do on opening day against a team that have just been relegated from the Premier League,” Prutton wrote on Skysports.com.

“Hull have lost a fair amount of players and this might be a bit of a transition season for them. For me it’s a Villa win but a narrow one.”

A footnote added: “Prutton predicts: 2-1 with Scott Hogan to score first.”

Villa have one of the best and strongest squads in the Championship, and Steve Bruce’s side will be determined to kick off the new campaign on a positive note.

Playing at home will give the Villans an advantage, and it will come as a surprise if they fail to pick up at least a point from Saturday evening’s encounter.

Hull, though, will not be easy pushovers. The Tigers got relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season, and they will be keen on finishing in the top six of the Championship this campaign.

Scott Hogan is a very good player who can operate as a forward or as a winger, and the 25-year-old could find the net against Hull at Villa Park on Saturday evening.
