Aston Villa and Barnsley will face each other in the Championship this weekend.

David Prutton has predicted on Skysports.com that Aston Villa will win against Barnsley at home this weekend.

Villa will take on Barnsley at Villa Park in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.

Former Leeds United and Nottingham Forest midfielder Prutton has backed the Villans to pick up all three points from the encounter courtesy of a 2-0 win.

Prutton wrote on Skysports.com: “Once again Aston Villa look red-hot contenders for promotion after three wins on the spin in the Sky Bet Championship.

“Their win against Nottingham Forest last week wasn’t pretty by any means, but they got the result and they’ll be looking for another three points on Saturday.

“Barnsley got a great draw with Wolves last week and are now unbeaten in four. But they’re still hovering nervously just a few points above the relegation zone, and I can’t see them picking up anything from Villa Park.”

A footnote added: “Prutton predicts: 2-0.”

Villa are in great form at the moment and look set to finish in the top six of the Championship this season.

Steve Bruce’s side can still end up in the top two and win automatic promotion to the Premier League at the end of the season.

Given that the match is at Villa Park, it is hard to see the Villans drop all three points from the encounter.

Of course, Barnsley can spring a surprise and score a goal, but the home team should still pick up maximum points from the encounter.

Villa are fourth in the Championship table at the moment, while Barnsley are currently 19th in the standings.
