Kemar Roofe scored his first Championship goal for Leeds United yesterday.
David Prutton has told Sky Sports, during their coverage of Leeds United’s match against Aston Villa yesterday, that he feels Kemar Roofe has gone a long way to answering the question marks about him.
Leeds brought in Roofe from Oxford United for a sizeable fee last summer, and the forward made a slow start at Elland Road.
Roofe struggled for goals in his initial time at Leeds, but he finally opened his account in the Championship yesterday.
The attacking midfielder raced on to the end of a brilliant cross from Souleymane Doukara to head home and put Leeds in front.
The Whites then went on to add a second through Chris Wood to seal the victory.
And Prutton, who was working as a pundit on Sky, was impressed by Roofe’s performance in the fixture.
He said: “He was so prolific last season that there were big question marks there. He got a big move to a big club in Leeds United. And what has stood him in good stead is his willingness to get forward and help his team. The position he takes up behind Chris Wood means he can arrive in that situation and get it into his favour.”
Roofe appears to be finding his feet at Leeds, as he was also excellent against Liverpool in EFL Cup action last week.
Leeds’ victory over Villa has propelled them into fourth place in the Championship table.
Garry Monk’s side are next in action when they take on Brighton & Hove Albion on Friday evening.
