David Prutton has issued a warning to Leeds United about three of their own players ahead of Queens Park Rangers’ visit to Elland Road on Saturday.

Leeds can extend further cement their place inside the Championship play-offs with a win against the R’s, however, Prutton does not believe his old side will have things all their own way.

And the former midfielder turned Sky pundit has suggested the Whites have two areas for concern ahead of the weekend, with a couple of their players, Kyle Bartley and Luke Ayling, on the verge of two-match bans.

“We have seen QPR go away to Reading and Newcastle, and they were really good,” Prutton reasoned in his weekly predictions column for Sky Sports. “They were really well structured and had a clear game-plan. They didn’t just defend, they went forward and countered.

“It will not be a stroll in the park for Leeds, who have got a couple of players close to suspension in Kyle Bartley and Luke Ayling, so they will have to be careful.”

Leeds are set to welcome back Chris Wood against QPR, with the Championship’s top scorer having missed Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at Fulham as a precaution.

Wood has scored 22 of his side’s 50 league goals this season, and Prutton added: “I think it will be really tough. Leeds might be stronger in some departments but not in others because, as happens, they can sometimes be heavily reliant on someone who scores so many goals like Chris Wood.”

Leeds are facing a QPR side back in form, having won four of their last five fixtures.

The R’s beat United 3-0 on the season’s opening day, but have since replaced the man who oversaw that win – former Whites striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink – with Ian Holloway.

Should Leeds rest Ayling and Bartley with this weekend the final one before the yellow card amnesty?
