Pontus Jansson is one of the best players at Leeds United and has played brilliantly this season.

Leeds are on the verge of securing a place in the Championship playoffs this season, and the Sweden international defender has been a key factor.

The 26-year-old central defender has been a rock at the back for the Whites, and has also scored three goals and created three chances in 31 league matches.

The problem with Jansson is that he gets too many yellow cards. The centre-back has yet to receive a red card in the Championship this season, but he has been cautioned on no fewer than 13 occasions.

The defender, currently on loan from Torino, was booked against Newcastle United last week. This means that Jansson is just one yellow card away from a three-match ban.

Leeds have four more games to play in the Championship this season and then playoffs, if they quality.

There is a chance that Jansson could be suspended for a playoff game or two, and former Leeds midfielder David Prutton has given his take on the defender’s situation.

“He is going to have to manage it so carefully because if it carries over into the playoffs, what a massive player to lose, obviously with Liam Cooper being out for his own indiscretions,” said Prutton about Jansson on Sky Sports 1 last Friday evening following the Championship match between Newcastle and Leeds at St. James’ Park (April 14, 2017).
