David Prutton has hailed the Leeds United fans at Elland Road.

Speaking to LUTV, former Leeds United midfielder David Prutton has reflected on his days of playing in front of the club’s “fantastic” supporters.

Prutton spent three years on the books at Elland Road and became something of a fan’s favourite in his first couple of seasons as a Leeds player.

Although the Whites were in League One at the time, it was still an exciting period as United regularly battled for promotion to Championship, and succeeded in 2010.

And the 35-year-old and Sky Sports regular admits he finds it hard to articulate just how “amazing” he found it to play in front of the Leeds supporters during his time in Yorkshire.

“It’s hard to put into words how amazing it is to play in that stadium when it’s packed and it’s buzzing,” he told LUTV. “It’s just wonderful. It’s everything you think it could be, times by a million. They’re just a fantastic bunch.”

There is a renewed sense of optimism for Leeds fans travelling to home games these days, too.

Under Garry Monk, United have won four of their last five Championship games following a difficult start which yielded one victory in six league outings.

Leeds only managed seven home wins last term under Uwe Rosler and later Steve Evans, which perhaps illustrates how difficult it is for the team to play at home when things aren’t going well. By the same token, the supporters do their bit when things are going well and we’ve seen that more and more in recent weeks under Monk.
