The Swede put in yet another top performance for his new club.
Rajiv van La Parra of Huddersfield Town in action with Pontus Jansson of Leeds United
Leeds United took on Cardiff City in the Championship today and picked up an impressive win in the Welsh capital.
Goals from Chris Wood and Pablo Hernandez gave them the win, but it was the defensive performances that really caught the eye.
David Prutton – Leeds United
Once again Kyle Bartley was solid, playing with the captain’s armband due to Liam Bridcutt’s injury. But it was the Swedish loanee Pontus Jansson who again took most of the plaudits – including from former Leeds midfielder David Prutton.
Speaking on Sky Sports the 35-year-old, who played at Elland Road for three years, had this to say about the performance of Jansson and the impact it has had on the Leeds team:
“He was fantastic.
“Obviously he uses his physical frame to full effect. He gets good distance on his clearances. He obviously works very well, very quickly, with Kyle Bartley.
“I think it’s reassuring. Having played in midfield it can unsettle you if the defence is a little bit jumpy.
“But it can settle a team. That’s taken care of and everyone now can assume their responsibility for their position.
“That’s exactly what they did today.”
Blackburn’s Danny Graham in action with Leeds’ Pontus Jansson
Jansson was once again outstanding for Leeds and not only was he solid in his own box, he proved a threat in the opposing one.
He was the man fouled for the penalty which Wood converted to give Leeds the lead in this game.
The Swede is only on loan from Torino but the deal will become permanent should he play a certain number of games for the club.
At this rate there is little doubt that he will hit the quota.
