Newcastle United’s hitman has been in fine form this season.
David Prutton has commented on Dwight Gayle’s free-scoring form for Newcastle United this season.
The 26-year-old has been a revelation since joining Newcastle from Crystal Palace in a £10 million switch this past summer.
The Magpies sit top of the Championship and much of that is because Gayle has netted 13 times in 14 matches in England’s second tier.

At the moment, he is doing precisely what he was brought in to do and that is fire United back into the Premier League in time for next season.
“The Championship’s top scorer brings a restless energy to Newcastle’s attack,” Prutton told Sky Sports.
“His link-up play is good, he works hard running in behind to keep defenders busy and is being rightly rewarded with the goals he’s getting.”
Gayle has been probably Newcastle’s Player of the Year so far but Rafael Benitez will need more of his troops to stand up and be counted this weekend.
The Magpies host Birmingham City at St James’s Park on Saturday as Benitez’s side look to bounce back from a run of two straight defeats in the Championship.
They remain top of the division but their eight-point cushion from the playoff places is now only six points. In the Championship, things can change very quickly, but if the North-East side keep their heads and focus on themselves then they will surely win promotion at the first time of asking.
