Glasgow Rangers winger Barrie McKay has been linked with a move away from Ibrox in the January transfer window.
David Provan has suggested in The Scottish Sun that Rangers should not sell Barrie McKay in the January transfer window.
According to a recent report in The Scottish Sun, RB Leipzig are interested in signing McKay from Rangers this month.
It has been reported that the Bundesliga outfit are lining up a £6 million bid for the 22-year-old winger, who is one of the best young players in the Scottish Premiership and has been a star for the Gers so far this season.
Three Premier League clubs and two European clubs are also claimed to have the youngster on their radar.
Former Celtic winger Provan has suggested that Rangers should not sell the Scotland international in the January transfer window.
The 60-year-old has also suggested that if the Scottish Premiership outfit do sell McKay, then they should invest the transfer fee in the squad and allow manager Mark Warburton to sign a suitable replacement.
“Mind you, with the Ibrox outfit strapped for cash nobody could blame King for selling McKay,” Provan wrote in The Scottish Sun.
“But if he can’t do a sale and loan-back deal for the player, he has to give Warburton some of that money for a replacement. Anything else would be a betrayal of the manager.”
Rangers are second in the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 39 points from 21 matches.
The Ibrox outfit are 19 points behind leaders and Old Firm rivals Celtic, who have a game in hand.
The Gers will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Motherwell away from home at the Fir Park Stadium in the Scottish Premiership.
